As Strictly Come Dancing is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary, head judge Shirley Ballas has revealed why she might be set to make her debut on another popular show.

Shirley has been part of the BBC dance series since 2017, when she replaced Len Goodman, but has recently revealed that being bullied in her younger days has inspired her to give another show a go instead.

In an interview with Love TV magazine the professional dancer said that if she could appear on any other show, it would be 'Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins'.

Sharing the sad reason why she'd like to take on the challenge, Shirley admitted: "I want to see if I'm over the fact that men screamed in my face as a young woman.

There was a lot of bullying in my industry. I want to see how I'd cope with it."

Shirley, who was nicknamed the 'Queen of Latin' thanks to her ballroom dancing prowess, has been outspoken about the difficulties she has faced from men in the industry in the past.

Just last year, she opened up to Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, saying: "I was going through immense bullying in the industry from men at the top. I will just go as far as that.

"They were stopping my work. I was like an elite teacher. I was teaching the top couples in the world and then there were threats going to certain couples saying, ‘There are nine of us and one of her.’

She added: "If you train with her we are going to make sure you don’t make it in the industry.’"

Before becoming Strictly's head judge, the 64-year-old had an illustrious career of competitive dancing in the Latin-style, picking up top spot in the Blackpool Dance Festival in 1983, 1995 and 1996.

But, in 2017, she made her first step into TV. The mother-of-one also said that there's another popular show that she'd like to appear on, adding: "I would also love to go on Gogglebox with my mother."
