Linda Nolan was recently dealt a blow in her cancer battle, with her sister, Coleen Nolan, sharing the devastated reaction that the singer and TV star had. 65-year-old Linda revealed her treatment for brain cancer had stopped working last month.

Coleen was at a book signing for her new book A Hand to Hold: All I've Learnt About Grief in Liverpool ONE's Waterstone's when she exclusively told Express.co.uk that her inspirational sibling is "going to keep going".

She shared that Linda had confided in her after being told she would need to try an alternative form of treatment, as doctors told her that the two largest tumours at the front and left side of her brain had increased in size.

The Loose Women panellist explained that she received a devastated text message from her sister, as she said: ”She just put 'Steroids. Gutted.' But she'll do it."

Coleen added: "I don't know how she does it. She's been amazing and then she gets knocked down again. She's really upset that she's got to have steroids again because they bloated her so much."

Speaking of the alternative treatment that Linda is trying, Coleen said: "It's different chemo and she said I don't know what the side effects are going to be of the new chemo, but, you know, I was around yesterday and we were sitting out, all of us, having a cup of tea. Two of her friends turned up and she was off out to lunch.

"Most people would think 'oh I can't be bothered, it's too much effort'. It's hard. She can't walk very well. She's got the shakes, but it doesn't stop her. Walking out to the car was an effort [for her] and I thought she's so amazing. I never seen anything like her will to live."

Speaking of Linda’s will to keep going, the Loose Women panellist added: "The news was really disappointing she got, but then the doctors said we've got this other chemo we've been trying. So I think as long as they're trying, Linda's going to keep going."

Coleen has recently had her own cancer scare after finding an unusual mark on her shoulder last year. She was shocked to be told the mark was actually signs of basal cell carcinoma.

She had the mark successfully removed, before finding two other marks which could develop into melanoma if they are not treated. Explaining why she has delayed treatment, Coleen said: "It's not been treated yet, because it's kind of pre. Because it's something that [the doctor] said will happen when I'm older.

"But I should get it treated now because I don't want to wait until I get it. I've just been saying today actually that I've got one more week of promo and then I'm going to phone the skin specialist up and start. He also said that when I have it treated on my face, I'll need probably four weeks off work because your whole face scabs up."
