Vanessa Feltz 'shaken' as new romance ends suddenly via brutal text after 'sublime' dates

Vanessa Feltz has been unceremoniously ditched by a man she had shared kisses and several dates with.

The 62 year old This Morning presenter is back on the dating scene after her long-term relationship with Ben Ofoedu came to an end last year.

Despite not finding love on Celebs Go Dating, Vanessa was set up with a divorced gentleman last month by some well-meaning friends.

Recalling their first encounter, she enthused on Best Magazine's Suddenly Single podcast: "I liked him from the very first second. I liked the look of him. I just liked him, I think it's a chemical thing."

Vanessa also admired his personality, sense of humour, and gentlemanly behaviour, which led to a romantic kiss at the end of their initial meeting.

Their romance seemed promising as they enjoyed what Vanessa called a "sublime date" at a restaurant later that week.

Delving into the details, she revealed: "During the meal, he's holding my hand a lot of the time, then he gets up and goes to the gents', and this is an all-time first, this has never happened to me in my whole entire life, he gets up to go to the gents', leans in and gives me a deep French kiss."

She relished his impromptu gesture, and they spent an additional six hours together that day. After more intimate moments, they planned another date for the following Saturday.

The presenter was initially disheartened when her date didn't message her for three days following their outing. Despite the temptation to reach out, she refrained.

During a photoshoot at her home on Wednesday, she finally received a text from him, but it wasn't the news she had hoped for.

She said: "I look at my phone and there's a message from him and my heart sings and I'm thinking, 'Oh great! As soon as this shoot is finished I'll phone him'."

"But then I read the message and the message says, 'I hope your shoot on Sunday went well, although I very much enjoyed the evening, I don't think we have a romantic future' and that's it."

Shocked by his words, Vanessa admitted she "started to shake from shock" as they had been getting along so well.

"I can't think I misread signals, can I? Anyway punch line is, I did phone straight away because I got such a shock," she revealed.

In their conversation, Vanessa expressed her disappointment at being rejected so quickly, to which he reiterated his sentiments from the text.

She confessed that at the time, she didn't have the courage to ask why he had dismissed the possibility of more dates so quickly, and simply left it at that.

After discussing his behaviour with the podcast hosts, she suggested her date was being "a bit dramatic" to be considering the future so early on, but was certain it was "the end" between them.

Despite this setback, she remains hopeful about finding love and is determined to connect with someone else.
