Sir Cliff Richard has revealed what motivates him to keep going on tour, even six decades after his music career took off.

Cliff was a fresh-faced 18-year-old when he released his first single, Move It, in 1958. It was described as Britain’s first “authentic rock ‘n’ roll song”.

In the six decades since then, he has released over 200 singles, 49 studio albums, 11 live albums, and a variety of other compilation albums, box sets, and EPs.

The 83-year-old's latest album, Cliff with Strings - My Kinda Life, as well as his book A Head Full of Music: The Soundtrack to My Life, were a chance to reflect on his long-standing career.

And while many would have retired long before turning 80, Cliff says he loves touring now as much as ever, especially as it gives him a chance to connect with fans, some of whom may have followed his entire career.

Cliff says the "the feeling of love literally hits" him as soon as he walks on stage.

Speaking to Woman's Weekly, he divulged: "I love the impact you have on fans who have supported you throughout the years.

"The feeling of love you get when you get on stage literally hits you. I'd like to take my friends on stage, so they can feel it too. It's so physical."

And when asked about whether he still feels the same buzz today, Cliff hinted at when he would decide to call it a day with performing on stage, revealing: "Absolutely, and if I didn't feel it, I would stop touring."

Having starred in The Young Ones in 1961 and Summer Holiday in 1963, as well as appearing in countless TV shows across the decades, Cliff's achievements have been varied.

But he says there are certain moments in his career that stand out.

He explained: "My first number one record, Living Doll, my knighthood and performing on various Royal Command shows. And, of course, the jubilees to celebrate the late Queen have always been my best memories."

A huge tennis fan, Cliff has become synonymous with Wimbledon, even performing an impromptu set in 1996 when rain stopped play on centre court, and says he even loves hitting the court himself.

He says tennis is his "one relaxation" and hopes to be able to play when he visits friends in Florida.

While most people would say Cliff is a musical "legend", he, however, isn't too sure on the term.

The star confesses it's not something "one could ever get used to".

Cliff shares he is proud of having the "most amazing career" and feels "lucky" to have hit the heights of fame that he has achieved.
