Celebrity Gogglebox star Jane McDonald was flooded with support as she issued a huge career announcement on social media.

Jane McDonald was flooded with support as she announced new career news.

The presenter, 61, is swapping TV for the theatre as she is set to perform in Robin Hood at The London Palladium. Jane is taking on the role of Maid Marion in the Christmas pantomime, starring opposite Julian Clary.

Jane will also appear alongside former Coronation Street actor Nigel Havers, Celebrity Big Brother star Marisha Wallace and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin.

The singer shared the "exciting" news on her Instagram account on Monday (July 1), writing: "It’s going to be a busy Christmas this year - I’ll be performing in The London Palladium’s panto, Robin Hood, which runs from Saturday 7 December 2024 - Sunday 12 January 2025!

"I’ll be starring as Maid Marion, with Palladium panto royalty Julian Clary as Robin Hood. I’m so excited!! Tickets available from the London Palladium website. @talent4media @thelondonpalladium."

Jane's followers flooded the comments with supportive messages as one wrote: "Never been this excited for a casting. Can’t wait." A second added: "All booked so can't wait. Lots of luv Jane always."

"I already have my ticket @thejanemcdonald . Looking forward to seeing you x," penned another user. Echoing this, a fourth shared: "Booked!! See you on 11th Dec."

Jane's schedule is quickly filling up as she is also heading on tour later this year. The former Loose Women star's With All My Love Tour kicks off in October and will see Jane travel all around the UK.

Taking to Instagram with a photo of the tour poster, Jane urged her followers to purchase tickets as a number of the dates are sold out.

The Celebrity Gogglebox star penned: "Tickets for my 2024 “With All My Love” tour are selling fast… have you booked yours yet? It’s been some time since my last tour which makes this tour all the more exciting. I can’t wait to see you all again, and to perform in front of a live audience!!"

Jane has also written a new book, Let the Light In. The book has the same name as her 2021 album which features twelve recordings of songs written by Jane.

Let the Light In details the lessons Jane has learned that have helped her grow, adapt and rise up through adversity. It is set for release in September 2024.
