Piers Morgan's nine-word verdict on Taylor Swift gig after bitter 'Pinocchio' feud

Piers Morgan had a well-documented love of Taylor Swift, until he branded her "Pinocchio" over a leaked video - but where do they stand now?

Piers Morgan had top quality seats for Taylor Swift's London show last night - and while the other 90,000 guests were battling with the crowds, the broadcaster was treated to a space in the Royal Box Wembley Suite. The suite is a self-contained room within the stadium, akin to a huge dressing room but with its own area for food and cocktails, plus seating on a balcony with a panoramic view of the stage.

The TalkTV broadcaster wouldn't have competed with a single soul for a view of the Love Story star, unlike the jostling crowds in the arena - and he posted a broadly grinning picture of himself alongside a private message to the star. "Taylor, the wait is over. For both of us," he quipped, punctuating his apparent love for her with the hashtag "#Swifty".

He labelled the Royal Box "appropriate seating to see the Queen of pop", suggesting that his former feud with her might have been laid to rest. It all began way back in June 2016, when he praised the songstress - who left her home on a Christmas tree farm at just 14 to try her luck in Nashville as a country singer - for being "a fantastic example of what every young woman should strive to be".

However, Kanye West then claimed to have written a song with her blessing containing the words "I made that b**** famous" - something which Taylor immediately refuted. She insisted she'd cautioned him against publishing something "misogynistic" but Kanye and wife Kim Kardashian then released a recording which had seemed to imply that she'd agreed to the song.

At the time, a disappointed Piers had taken to Good Morning Britain to exclaim: "Can we rename her Pinocchio Swift? I feel completely conned!" He added: "Unfortunately, it's that moment you get exposed for little porkie pies, Miss Swift. I wanted to believe in you, Taylor."

It later transpired that Kim and Kanye had dropped an edited version, with the full recording making it clear that although she may have approved a song, she did not approve any derogatory words about her.

Taking to Instagram, she quizzed: "Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me 'that b****' in his song? It doesn't exist because it never happened!"

However, the incident had already turned into publicity material for an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians - and Taylor felt she'd endured a "public shaming" and was being "cancelled".

Soon afterwards, she fled to Britain, booking a rental home which she said she didn't leave for a year as she attempted to withdraw from the trolling.

However, many of those who had doubted her backtracked - and it looks like Piers is now firmly in her corner.

On his social media, he subsequently wrote: "My response to Kim Kardashian and all the other poisonous, green-eyed monsters out there currently trying to tear down Taylor Swift is simple: back off you sad, pathetic, envy-ridden people."

On Saturday night, Taylor merged two songs - thanK you aIMee, believed to be a reference to Kim, and Mean - and made it all too clear who she was talking about.

"Every time somebody talks s***, it just makes me work even harder and it makes me that much tougher," she promised the crowd.
