Kate Beckinsale took to social media to issue her fans with a stern warning after the rise of fake profiles.
The actress insisted she would “never” ask her supporters for money in a lengthy post alongside two screenshots from her messages of fans asking her to address the scams.
A family member of the scammer’s victim seemingly reached out to Kate’s friends for clarity.
They wrote: “If there is any way you can confirm that your friend Kate Beckinsale is not dating my elderly father in California, I will gladly donate to a charity of your choice.”
The message revealed that the man was “convinced” the 50-year-old had recently proposed to him through a text message.
However, this wasn’t the first time a scammer tried to take advantage of fans using Kate’s likeness, as she posted a second message.
Another elderly father was “scammed out of lots of money” as they requested her to message him directly and “state [she is] not asking him for money”.
As a result of the impersonator, he doesn't believe any of his concerned family members.
Addressing her 5.6 million followers, the Total Recall star warned: “This is such a sh***y horrible thing to do.

“And it’s not the first time an elderly man has been scammed out of actually a lot of money - hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
Kate slammed the scammer as “disgusting and evil” as she insisted she would not ask fans for anything monetary.
She added: “And yes, confirming any message pretending to me is a scammer and I will never be dming anyone asking for money.”
However, she joked: “Except possibly @craftyape,” who took the comments and responded: “You still owe me a fiver for those gel pens.”
