Election 2024: Keir Starmer jeered as he talks about dad's toolmaker job

The Chase star Mark Labbett was left unimpressed during the General Election leaders debate as Sky News presenter Beth Rigby grilled both Sir Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak in tonight's TV showdown.

The quizmaster, otherwise known as The Beast, said he was not happy with the host's style of questioning as he claimed she was "constantly interrupting" both politicians.

Taking to X, the 58 year old tweeted: "Wish Beth Rigby would stop interrupting every five seconds #battlefornumberten," before adding he is not a fan of her interview technique.

But his 156,000 followers did not all agree, however, others pointed out a similar problem with both politicians as social media users claimed she was trying to stop them from "waffling".

One penned: " Really enjoy her. Trying to stop them waffling."

Another agreed: "She’s doing well. He’s waffling."

A third suggested: "Interrupt when they go off topic into prepared rhetoric but talking over for the sake of it is not hard-hitting or edgy."

Another penned: "I disagree, she’s doing a great job!"

A fourth argued: "He just waffles on over the same points over and over again! He wont answer a question."

Mark tweeted his observation after Labour leader Sir Keir was put in the hot seat during the Battle For Number 10 debate between Prime Minister Rishi and his opposition.

In a follow-up tweet, Mark said: "Beth Rigby is not a good interviewer but fair play she has done her homework with the PMs pledges #battlefornumberten."

A snap poll has revealed who viewers thought came out on top in the latest TV battle.

The YouGov survey after the Sky News Battle For No 10 programme found 64 per cent of respondents thought the Labour leader was stronger.

Meanwhile, some 36 per cent thought the Prime Minister won the night in the poll of 1,864 people.

The show saw the pair face separate grillings with Sky's political editor Beth Rigby.

Did Rishi Sunak support Brexit?

Rishi Sunak was first elected to Parliament as MP for Richmond (Yorks) in 2015 with a majority of nearly 20,000 votes. He later became Chancellor under Boris Johnson's Government, where he managed the country's finances through the pandemic.

During the UK’s referendum on EU membership in 2016, Mr Suank was a supporter of Brexit and voted to leave the bloc, describing it as a “once in a generation opportunity for our country to take back control of its destiny”.

After Boris Johnson left his role as Prime Minister, Mr Sunak praised his Conservative Party colleague for getting Brexit done, often referring to it as one of Mr Johnson's best achievements in office.
