Sally Nugent speechless as Jon Kay calls Helen Skelton 'princess'

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent got a fit of the giggles in the studio today after Jon Kay referred to their BBC co-star as "princess". Jon made the cheeky comment about Strictly Come Dancing finalist Helen Skelton after she and co-host Gethin Jones offered a preview of what was coming up from the Morning Live studio.

Sally, 52, was rendered speechless by Jon's throwaway comment, holding her head in her hands as she started to laugh. Jon, 54, made the comment about Helen, 40, in a jokey reference to what had been said earlier in the show.

On today's BBC Breakfast, Sally and Jon discussed new legislation demanding that all cats over 20 weeks of age be microchipped. Owners, who currently have a three-week grace period, could face a fine of up to £500 if they fail to get their cats microchipped.

Reporter Dave Guest spoke more about the new rules from an RSPCA hospital in Manchester, where he introduced Princess the cat, who had recently received her chip. After the light-hearted segment had concluded, Sally added: "Princess looks fine to us! Isn't she beautiful? Look at that face!"

"Hello, princess!" Jone added. "Watch your fingers, Dave."

Sally then passed over to their BBC co-presenters at the Morning Live studio, saying: "Helen and Gethin, nice of you to join us!"

"Jon said 'morning princess' and I was like 'Hello!'" Helen quipped in response, causing laughter to ring out through the studio.

After Gethin and Helen had brought viewers up to speed on what they would be covering on Morning Live today, Jon bid them a rather cheeky farewell.

"Thank you, Geth, thanks, princess! See you later," he signed off, causing Sally to burst out laughing.
