Carol Vorderman teases appearance on Have I Got News For You

Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman has previously discussed her busy love life, explaining she has been dating five men simultaneously. The 62-year-old, who continues to stun her fans with her youthful appearance, will be appearing on tonight's episode of BBC One's Have I Got News for You.

The TV star, who often appears on This Morning as an agony aunt, refers to her own experiences when discussing relationships. She has openly confirmed that she is seeing five men at the same time, assuring everyone that all parties are aware of each other and are on friendly terms.

This approach to polyamory marks a significant departure from her previous one-on-one relationships. The Welsh TV icon has been married twice in the past. Her first marriage was to Christopher Mather in 1985 when she was just 24 years old.

However, their union was short-lived, ending after only a year. In 2018, she humorously suggested that her rendition of 'It's Raining Men' on her wedding day might have contributed to the downfall of her first marriage.

During her chat on her former BBC Radio Wales show, she reminisced about her first marriage and its rocky start. She explained: "When I got married for the first time, not terribly successfully...

"This could be the reason why..." she continued. "So we got married during the day and had the standard reception thing and then there was an evening do."

She revealed a memorable incident from her wedding night involving a risque outfit, recalling: "I got changed into a sheer outfit, the kind of thing you would see on Strictly Come Dancing nowadays, and I had been leant it by the girls from Three, Two, One, the programme."

The star looked back on the light-hearted moment, saying: "I got on the stage and I sang this [song] at my wedding and I was then dragged off by my husband and the marriage didn't last long, so here we go. It's raining men... And you can understand his reasons."

After her first marriage ended, Carol found love again with Patrick King and they had two children, Katie and Cameron, during their decade-long union.

However, reflecting on their divorce in 2000, Carol expressed regret, as she told Woman Magazine: "I never said why my marriage broke down and we'd agreed never to talk about it publicly."

Revealing her mother's thoughts and the finality of their separation, she continued: "The divorce is a regret of mine and my mum thinks that we should have stayed together. He's now remarried so there's no chance of us getting back together. Had my career not taken off like it did, Paddy and I probably wouldn't have split up."

Concluding her reflections on matrimony, Carol firmly stated: "I never want to get married again."

Since her second divorce, Carol has remained true to her word and hasn't walked down the aisle again. However, the Pride of Britain host's love life has been anything but dull.

In the early 2000s, she was in a long-term relationship with Des Kelly, former Daily Mirror deputy editor, after sparks flew at a Christmas party.

Carol and Des set up home together, splitting their time between London and the idyllic setting of West Cork in Ireland. But after six years, the romance fizzled out, and they parted ways in 2006.

The Countdown legend didn't stay single for long, as she soon found love with Red Arrows ace Graham 'Duffy' Duff, despite a 14-year age gap.

The pair enjoyed a four-year romance before hitting a rough patch in 2015, leading to a brief split. They rekindled their flame, trying to make it work, but ultimately, Carol announced they had separated permanently.

Reflecting on the relationship in a candid chat with the Mirror in 2016, Carol declared: "I'm happily single, freely independent and doing my own thing."

She mused about age differences in relationships, saying: "I'm not opposed to going out with someone 10 years younger, it's acceptable. But Duffy was 14 years younger - that was a bit silly, really."

Carol has since opted for a more private approach to her romantic endeavours, but in 2019, the Welsh beauty let slip that she's been juggling not one, but two "special friends" for years.

During an appearance on This Morning, Carol opened up: "I live my life in chapters, as you said, and this chapter since I was about 50. So for the last decade or so, I've lived a life which is much freer."

"I've never felt freer. So I have ignored the looking for one person and I have a number of what I've called 'special friends'."

She kept the identities of her 'special friends' under wraps but disclosed: "They don't know each other, but they know about it. It's a very honest relationship."

"One of them has gone on for many more years than my marriage. Yeah, it's over 10 years. Another is seven. He's an astronaut. He rang me from the space station."

Have I Got News for You airs at 9pm tonight on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
