Chris Evans is celebrating a significant milestone, marking one year of sobriety on Monday and said he's feeling "amazing". The 58-year-old had a health scare last year when he disclosed his cancer battle on his Virgin Radio show, leading to surgery to remove a malignant growth from his leg.

Now with a new lease on life after receiving the all-clear in August, the radio veteran, who began his career at Piccadilly Radio as a teenager, took to Instagram to share a joyful photo with his wife, Natasha Shishmanian. The pair are seen clutching glasses of water with "Happy" painted on them in vibrant letters, looking absolutely thrilled.

Chris, donning a green CarFest bucket hat, captioned the snap: "Happy Soberversary to us. One year alcohol-free TODAY. Feels amazing. Year 2 starts tmr. Tune in to @virginradiouk to hear @andyramageofficial BREAKFAST for THE CHAT with the main man Tuesday morning."(sic)

His post was met with warm wishes from friends, including presenter Fearne Cotton who posted six celebratory emojis. Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Scanlon commented: "Gorgeous picture of you both", while Alan Carr sent a string of applauding emojis.

Strictly's Kevin Clifton wrote: "Amazing guys, well done" and Countryfile star Julia Bradbury, currently recovering from breast cancer, shared: "It's quite a thing isn't it....to drop the alcohol. I'm finding people's reactions interesting. Congrats ...looks like it's doing you both good! ".

After undergoing surgery for skin cancer last year, Chris took to Instagram to share a snapshot of the small scar left on his leg where the malignant tumour was excised. His caption celebrated the occasion: "And that's a W.R.A.P. Early cuzza to celebrate + 0.0 VERY cold beer. #getyourselfchecked/checkafriend PeaceandLove people. HAPPY THURSDAY."

The post garnered a flood of supportive messages from his followers, with one commenting, "Glad it's out. Quick recovery". In May, during Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Chris opened up about his journey, expressing a newfound love for the "proud scar" that remains after the removal of his melanoma.

He received the all-clear just eight weeks after his diagnosis in August, having detected the cancer early.

On his Virgin Radio show, he discussed his experience: "I'm now sporting a proud scar. I've got my scar on the back of my calf."

Chris went on to say how much he appreciates the scar, remarking, "I love my scar, because the scar led me to a sunnier tomorrow, and I'm still in that tomorrow today, and it's a wonderful place to be."

He didn't stop there, emphasising the critical need for skin protection: "My dermatologist, she says from now on I always have to wear skin protection if any of my skin is naked because I'm so susceptible."
