Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes' former This Morning co-star Peter Andre issued a six-word reply following the news that the TV stars had filed for divorce. The pop star said he "wishes them nothing but the best".

A representative for the dynamic duo, famed for their stint on This Morning, released a heartfelt statement last weekend confirming the news: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

The revelation has not only stunned fans but also close friends within the entertainment circle, with many expressing their dismay. Peter, in his exclusive Ok! column, shared his thoughts: "I, like many, was saddened to hear the news about Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes splitting up after 14 years of marriage.

"They're both such lovely people and I wish them nothing but the best. They share a son together, so their priorities are likely to focus on him, but it's sad to see two great people go through something like that."

The couple, who first crossed paths in 1997 thanks to a friend's introduction, tied the knot in a romantic Hampshire ceremony in 2010 and are parents to 21-year-old Jack. Speculation had been rife about the state of their union, with the pair notably absent from each other's social media feeds in recent times.

While Eamonn publicly acknowledged the outpouring of support on his GB News programme last Tuesday, Ruth has maintained silence on the matter thus far.

In an emotional statement on the Breakfast show, Eamonn said: "Just before we move on we'd just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation.

"Your support for both of us is very much appreciated."

Ruth and Eamonn have yet to address the exact reasons behind their split, but sources close to the couple claimed it could have been down to Eamonn's health woes.

After enduring a series of health issues, including spinal surgery in 2022 and a double-hip replacement in 2016, Eamonn has faced a tough battle with chronic back pain.

A close friend disclosed: "Ruth has become more his carer than a wife. Eamonn has been thoroughly miserable."

Speaking to MailOnline, the friend elaborated on Eamonn's struggles: "He has had a torrid time with his health, he's in constant pain, and the truth is he can't contain how miserable it makes him."
