Emma Watson, 31, has been off the radar throughout most of the pandemic, but has now resurfaced on social media to put to bed rumours she has "quit acting". The Harry Potter star posted on Twitter for the first time since August last year, to dismiss the claims she had stepped back from her career, whilst also addressing suggestions she has become engaged to her boyfriend Leo Robinton.
If I have news - I promise I’ll share it with you
In a series of tweets, she spoke to her fans directly to try and clear up any confusion surrounding her personal life.
"Dear Fans, rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is 'dormant or not' are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue," she penned.
"If I have news - I promise I’ll share it with you."
She went on to say that if there's no news from her, it's just because she's spending the pandemic "like most people are", referencing her failed attempts at making sourdough bread, caring for her loved ones and "doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people".

In a final tweet before logging off, she wrote: "I am sending so much love to you, hoping you’re ok and as well and happy as you can be in these strange times.
"And again, thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us safe and well."
Earlier this year when the rumours were rife, Emma's agent Jason Weinberg of Untitled Entertainment, confirmed that her career is still very much alive and kicking.
"Emma's social media accounts are dormant but her career isn't," he told Entertainment Weekly in February.
Her Instagram bio currently reads: "Emma’s official Instagram page is currently dormant and is not being updated", with her last post dated back in June 2020.
Following her new posts, fans eagerly rushed to the comments section to welcome her back to social media after almost a year's break.
"Yes Emma welcome back!! Missed you," one penned ecstatically.
Another said: "We love you, stay safe. It’s nice to hear from you!"

"Don't listen to anyone you do you, these are weird times for us all," a third advised.
While a fourth was beyond confused in the first place: "Why on Earth would she even think of retiring? She is awesome & so so successful!"
Emma rose to fame in the ever-popular Harry Potter franchise after she was cast as Hermine Granger in 1999, with her debut screen performance in the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001.
She appeared alongside co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint until the final instalment Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which finished filming in 2010.
