Christmas comeback at 78 for comedian Corbett
VETERAN comedian Ronnie Corbett could be dusting off his famous leather armchair for a new Christmas variety show.
The diminutive Scot, 78, was one of TV’s best-loved figures in the 1970s and 80s, and the rambling monologues he delivered from the chair were a highlight of his Saturday night Two Ronnies show with Ronnie Barker.
Corbett has been signed up to appear in a variety show at the Royal Festival Hall this Christmas, hosted by Sandi Toksvig. Organisers said details of his role were still being finalised, but there were rumours the props department had been asked to provide a large leather armchair.
The show, Sandi Toksvig’s Christmas Cracker, will feature a mix of comedy, sing-alongs and a reworking of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
The show will run from December 15 to 24.
