Eamonn Holmes delivered a cool comeback to online trolls who suggested he recycled an old photo for his latest social media update.

The former This Morning host, aged 64, has just returned from a cruise with his new partner Katie Alexander, who is 42. Holmes made waves earlier in the year with news of his separation from Ruth Langsford, his wife of 14 years, and appeared to quickly move on with his comparatively younger companion.

Just this morning, Eamonn treated his audience to a car selfie. The GB News anchor gave his best pout for the lens and wrote: "Set off at 5.30 .... Driving through a beautiful Sunny Birmingham now."

While the snap was a hit with numerous admirers, some speculated that it wasn't a recent one.

A commenter queried: "Same photo as 11th July isn't it? Was it really that sunny today? " and another insisted: "Not a current photo", reports the Mirror.

Eamonn brushed aside the ridiculous remarks and uploaded a fresh selfie, this time donning sunglasses and taking a bite of a bacon sandwich.

He humorously captioned the follow-up: "Stopped off at The Services - Bacon bap breakfast incoming!"

In the comments, there was a surge of support as one enthusiast noted: "Eamon can't catch a break anything he posts everyone trolls him or complains," while another added: "Good morning Eamonn! Love watching you in the morning."

The celebrity continued his photo-sharing spree, later posting an image of himself dining out. His Instagram followers are split after Eamonn criticised Phillip Schofield, who has recently made a comeback with a new programme on Channel 5.

One user commented: "Why be so unkind to schofield when ur own behaviour is not kind towards ruth? Makes no sense. I have always loved your views but people in glass houses..... be kind."

Another supporter wrote under his latest picture: "Good Morning Eamon have a wonderful day keep being you , a genuine guy not afraid to call a spade a spade."

Meanwhile, on GB News on Monday (September 30), Eamonn Holmes lambasted Phillip, claiming he's "proud" to be among those who "threw him under the bus" while presenting his morning show.

Eamonn added: "This man is addicted to fame. Absolutely addicted to fame."
