If you had to hazard a guess as to the world’s busiest flight path, a few major global cities might crop up.
But if London, Paris or New York were at the top of your list, you’d be sorely mistaken.
The world’s busiest air route doesn’t lie anywhere near these well travelled destinations.
Taking the crown is the 280-mile flight from Seoul Gimpo International Airport to Jeju International.

Both located in the same country, the destinations link an extremely well worn air route.
Over 11 million journeys were made between the two in 2015, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Given that Seoul is the capital of South Korea, this airport is relatively well known worldwide.
But Jeju is easily less familiar on the global stage.

Jeju is the capital of the island of Jejudo, which is in fact a holiday hotspot.
The UNESCO-listed island is home to stunning volcanic landscapes, hiking trails, beaches and underground caves.
Seoul to Jeju might be the world’s busiest, but it’s far from the longest air route in the world.

The new service will launch at the end of next month.
It won’t stay at the top for long though, with Qantas launching a very lengthy flight early in 2018.
The Australian airline will become the first to connect the UK and Australia with one direct air journey.
London to Perth in Western Australia will be traveled on a Boeing Dreamliner from March next year, and is expected to take 17 hours.
Once that is achieved, the airline plans to unveil a London to Sydney leg which would take a staggering 20 hours.
