Travelling for longer periods of time in many parts of Europe has become more tricky for Brits due to the 90-day rule.

Exploring Europe for an extended period can be tricky due to the 90-day rule, which restricts non-EU nationals with a valid visa to only 90 days in Schengen Area countries within any 180-day period.

This rule affects 25 out of the 27 EU countries, along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. However, there are still some beautiful European destinations where Brits can stay without worrying about this limitation.

Here are five of the best destinations you can travel to where you won't be impacted by any restrictions.

Albania

Albania, not part of the Schengen Zone, allows many non-EU nationals, including Brits, to stay for 90 days without it affecting the Schengen 90-day limit. With its beautiful beaches, mountains, affordable cost of living, and friendly locals, Albania is becoming a popular tourist destination.

Vlore on the Adriatic coast is known for its excellent beaches, large promenades, and great restaurants. Further north, the Komani Lake Ferry journey between Koman and Fierze in the Albanian Alps is highly recommended and is part of the famous Valbona to Theth hike.

Cyprus

Cyprus, not in the Schengen zone, also has its own 90-day limit for visa applicants. This gives travelers ample time to enjoy Mediterranean beaches, ancient Roman sites, and vibrant nightlife.

Ayia Napa offers lively nightlife, while Cavo Greco National Park and the sea caves provide scenic outdoor activities. Paphos combines culture and nightlife with attractions like Aphrodite’s Rock and the UNESCO-listed Tombs of the Kings.

Ireland

Ireland, along with Cyprus, is not in the Schengen Area and has its own 90-day tourist limit. However, Brits enjoy freedom of movement there under the Common Travel Agreement, allowing unrestricted stays.

In Ireland, visitors can enjoy Dublin's pubs, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Wild Atlantic Way. The UK also offers diverse attractions without affecting Schengen visa days, from London’s festivals to Scotland’s rugged landscapes.

North Macedonia

North Macedonia allows many tourists visa-free access for up to 90 days, independent of the Schengen limit. Bordering northern Greece, it’s a perfect spot to break up your European journey.

Lake Ohrid is a stunning destination for relaxation, while the Shar Mountains offer high-altitude adventures. Skopje, the capital, presents a mix of old and new architecture, and the Treska River and Matka Lake provide picturesque outdoor experiences.

Montenegro

Montenegro, not part of the Schengen zone, offers breathtaking scenery and allows non-EU nationals to stay for 90 days. Known for its stunning coastline and rich history, Montenegro is a great place to extend your European travels.

Kotor, with its beautiful bay and historic old town, is a must-visit, while the beaches of Budva and the scenic drives along the Adriatic coast provide plenty of relaxation and exploration opportunities.
