The beautiful seaside town loved by British tourists that's 'Spain's most expensive'
Beach front flats in Puerto Pollensa will set visitors back more than £2,554 (3,000 euros) a week, local media reports.
A beatiful seaside town in Majorca adored by Brits has been named as one of the most expensive places to rent this summer. Renting a beachside flat is almost 10 percent more expensive in Puerto Pollensa than last year, according to figures cited by news website Majorca Daily Bulletin.
The priciest places to rent are in Puerto Pollensa, Santanyi and Ibiza, according to the same publication, which reported on Thursday (June 6) that average rates are £987 (1,160 euros) per week compared to £898 (1,055) in 2023.
It reported a beachfront flat in Puerto Pollensa costs more than £2,554 (3,000 euros) per week, making the location the most expensive in Spain. The figures come from valuers, Tecnitasa, according to Majorca Daily Bulletin.
Puerto Pollensa itself is a port on Majorca's north coast and has attracted tourists for years. It is said to be loved by Brits especially, according to the abcMallorca travel guide.
It hails the town's long sandy beaches lined with palm trees, "splendid array" of eateries and "excellent" hotels.
Described as a family-friendly resort, the town is said to offer superb views of Pollensa Bay, which inpsired a story by Agatha Christie.
Hiking enthusiasts can follow the Boquer Valley trail, which winds through some stunning scenery towards a remote cove. There is also a more challenging hike to the former monastery of Lluc in the Tramuntana mountains.
Golf fans have the option of nine holes at Golf Pollensa, which can be found on the main road to Palma while 18-hole Alcanada is further away but a "challenging, top-level" course, according to abcMallorca.
Holiday firm Tui describes Puerto Pollensa as Spain "the way it was meant to be", thanks to its "pretty beaches", cobbled promenade and "charming" old, stone houses.
The town has two beaches, Pollensa Beach, which offers sun-loungers and watersports, and Albercutx Beach, a narrower stretch which is family-friendly with shallow water and shade.

For some of Majorca's most dramatic views, Cap de Formentor is half an hour away by bus. Its vistas include huge cliffs and rugged peninsula.
There's a range of accommodation in Puerto Pollensa, including Hotel Illa d'Or, Hoposa Hotel and Hotel Llenaire.
Eateries include Bellaverde, Terrae, family-run Zarzales, Hoposa Bahia at the Bahia Hotel and seafood restaurant La Llonja.
Jet2, easyJet, TUI, Ryanair, British Airways, Iberia, Lauda Europe and Qatar Airways all fly direct to Majorca.
The average flight time is two hours and 35 minutes. Puerto Pollensa is about 50 minutes from Palma by car on the Ma-13.
