To help tourists bring as much as they would like on holiday, a travel company has shared an affordable accessory that can keep clothes compact.

The flight booking company SkyScanner has advised tourists on a number of ways that they can maximise their luggage space when packing for their next holiday.

Whilst many travellers love the anticipation of an upcoming holiday, making sure that everything fits in their suitcases can be a nightmare.

To help create more space, a spokesperson for SkyScanner suggested that tourists should place clothes and vacuum sealed bags and bring along packing cubes.

They advised: "No one wants a pile of ironing on holiday. To save space and stop creasing, roll your clothes instead of folding, then place them in vacuum compression bags. Simply put your clothes in, seal the bag, then squeeze the air out.

"Another good packing solution is packing cubes or bag packing bags. These help separate your items and can help find things faster once you get there."

Whilst some items of clothing, such as anything made from leather, can be damaged if they are stored this way for long periods of time, using vacuum bags for flights can be a useful way of increasing storage space.

Depending on the clothes stored, vacuum bags can help tourists increase the amount of baggage space by around 50 percent.

Similarly, once they get to their destination, holidaymakers can keep their clothing organised by investing in some packing cubes, which are readily available for around £10.

Another helpful packing tip offered by SkyScanner was to pack heavier items near to the wheels of the case.

By putting items such as liquids and shoes towards the bottom of the case, tourists can make sure that they do not squash, and therefore crease, their clothes.

Keeping the weight of items they pack in mind can also help travellers get better weight distribution from their bags, making them easier to wheel along at the airport.

Finally, SkyScanner also reminded tourists that it is always a good idea to leave a little bit of extra room for any souvenirs they may buy whilst away.

They added: "Love a souvenir or a memento from your hols? Make sure you leave a little space in your suitcase and keep your weight under the maximum allowance for those treasured keepsakes to bring home.

"Wrap any fragile items in clothes to stop them getting damaged."
