Conor McGregor has thanked the state of New York after avoiding jail time for his antics at the UFC 223 media day in Brooklyn.
After learning his fate for throwing a dolly through the window of a bus, a delighted McGregor said: “I just want to say I’m thankful to the DA and the judge for allowing me to move forward.
“I want to say to my friends, my family, my fans, thank you for the support.”
And he further expressed his delight on Twitter and Instagram, saying: “The home of the champ champ, New York City! Thank you.”
McGregor, 30, hasn't set foot inside the Octagon since claiming the lightweight title in the main event of UFC 205, where he became the promotion's first simultaneous two-weight world champion.
The Irishman is expected to be welcomed back to the Octagon by Khabib Nurmagomedov, his successor at the summit of the lightweight division.
A date for their grudge match hasn't been set, but the UFC brass are keen on having the pair face one another in Las Vegas before the end of the year.

New UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has called for a November showdown with ‘The Notorious’.
“Glad that he stayed out of jail, because I wouldn’t be able to punish him in that case,” Nurmagomedov said in a statement to MMA Junkie’s John Morgan.
“Now he needs to bring his Irish team to (Madison Square Garden) in November and finish our business.”
The Dagestan native followed up that statement with a chilling message on Instagram, which merely read: “Send me location.”

McGregor’s manager Audie Attar has claimed ‘The Notorious’ will more than likely be welcomed back to the Octagon by Nurmagomedov.
"I think that’s the likely opponent at this point,” Attar told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.
“I think if something changes, at that point in time, it’ll become known.
“At this point in time, I think that’s the likely opponent. We’ll see how the negotiations go.”
McGregor has since revealed that he's closing in on a multi-million-pound bout with 'The Eagle, telling TMZ: "Yes, very close.”
When asked if he think’s he’ll fight Nurmagomedov before the end of the year, McGregor added: “I believe so. I hope so.”
