Conor McGregor vs Khabib: Manager makes stunning statement as fight is claim is made
CONOR MCGREGOR - KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV doesn't believe Conor McGregor deserves to be the first man to challenge him for the lightweight title, according to his manager.
A mega-fight between the pair, which has been on the cards for over 19 months, is seemingly close to coming fruition.
However, the proposed contest currently hinges on the outcome of McGregor's court case, the result of his antics at the UFC 223 media day in Brooklyn.
Nurmagomedov vs McGregor has plenty of storylines to make it the biggest fight in UFC history, most notably the fact the former claimed the lightweight crown after the latter was stripped of it due to inactivity.
Many in the mixed martial arts world are of the belief that Nurmagomedov can’t lay claim to the title of undisputed lightweight champion until he defeats McGregor.
Although that may be the general consensus amongst MMA fans, Nurmagomedov doesn't believe 'The Notorious' is deserving of a title shot.
On Monday evening, the Dagestan native's manager Ali Abdelaziz tweeted: "Let’s make this clear the guy is 2-2 in his last 4 fights.
"What do you have to gain but money? BIG DRAMA SHOW Khabib doesn’t think he deserves it."
Abdelaziz's tweet came a little less than three days after it was claimed that Nurmagomedov vs McGregor 'in the works' for UFC 229, which takes place in Las Vegas on October 6.

Khabib doesn’t think he deserves it
MMA Team Dagestan made the sensational claim, tweeting: “BREAKING: @TeamKhabib vs. @TheNotoriousMMA in the works for UFC 229 October 6, Las Vegas, T-Mobile Arena."
Their report has yet to confirmed by the UFC brass, McGregor's team or Nurmagomedov's management.
McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy was asked about the rumour this past weekend and revealed he’s just as in the dark about the proposed fight date as the general public.
“I can’t confirm anything,” Roddy told MMA NYTT's Jim Edwards. “It would be great to get Conor back.”
“He’s training hard, he’s always training. He’s motivated and he wants to fight.
“It’s just that he needs to get a few things sorted out, then he can sit down and negotiate a good deal for his next fight.
“I think it will be another big spectacle — they always are. I’m excited, just like everybody else.”
