Conor McGregor super-fight shut down by GSP ahead of court case: He needs to do this first
CONOR MCGREGOR - GEORGES ST-PIERRE is refusing to rule out a future fight with Conor McGregor.
The Canadian has been linked with a mega-money bout against the former UFC lightweight champion ever since signing a new deal with the promotion in February 2017.
Initially, St-Pierre wasn’t receptive to the idea of locking horns with the UFC’s poster boy, insisting he doesn't pick fights with fighters in weight classes below him.
However, the future UFC Hall of Famer recently revealed he’s interested in facing the winner of the proposed bout between McGregor and new lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
A potential fight with McGregor was put to St-Pierre during an interview with News.com.au, in which he didn’t close the door on a bout with ‘The Notorious’.
However, he did reveal he’ll only fight McGregor after the Irishman locks horns with Nurmagomedov, who claimed the lightweight title after Ireland’s first UFC belt holder was relieved of the belt.
“Conor McGregor, right now, needs to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, so I don’t focus on that,” St-Pierre said.
“I compete at 170-185 (pounds). If I was to go down to 155, it would have to be something special.
“Right now Khabib is the champion, but he needs to fight Conor to know the real, undisputed champion.
“Tony Ferguson is out for a long time, he’s got his knee injury, so logically what should happen is Khabib versus Conor.”

St-Pierre, 37, hasn’t set foot inside the Octagon since claiming the middleweight title at UFC 217 with an emphatic third-round submission victory over Michael Bisping.
His reign at the summit of the division came to end 31 days after that historic night at Madison Square Garden when he vacated the title, a decision he made due to his ongoing bout of ulcerative colitis.
Despite being sidelined with an at times debilitating illness, St-Pierre intends to fight again.
“There’s a big chance I’m fighting again, yes,” he said.
“Nothing is on the contract right now. I gained so much weight in my last fight because I fought in a higher weight class than I usually compete at.
“And I’ve got a health issue. I’ve got an ulcer in my stomach and I was having a lot of issues.
“I got into some medication and some intermittent fasting and a time-restricted eating program.
"It’s now a lot better than it was, but it’s still not 100 per cent.
“I need to wait before I go back into training camp, because when you’re in training camp everything amplifies so much because of the stress.
“I want to make sure I get rid of this before I go back to training.”
