Conor McGregor: Dana White reveals reason why crunch talks didn't happen in Liverpool
CONOR MCGREGOR didn't meet up with UFC president Dana White last month due to a personal issue, it has been revealed.
The former UFC lightweight champion was due to rendezvous with White ahead of the UFC's debut show in Liverpool.
However, their proposed meeting didn't come to fruition, leading White to make plans to meet the Irishman in Las Vegas.
Their failure to meet one another prompted suggestions that White was snubbed by 'The Notorious’.
White insists that's not the case and has revealed the meeting was rescheduled due to an unavoidable issue arising for McGregor.
“Something happened," he said during the latest episode of the UFC Unfiltered Podcast.
"Something went down with him personally and he couldn’t do it.”
White is keen to meet McGregor before the Dubliner appears in court to explain his actions at the UFC 223 media day in New York, where he threw a dolly through the window of a bus carrying his fellow fighters.
“It didn’t work out, now we’re working on meeting in between Chicago and his court date in New York,” he said.

McGregor, 21-3, hasn’t graced the Octagon since his historic UFC 205 victory over Eddie Alvarez, a triumph which saw him become the first fighter in the promotion’s history to hold two titles at the same time.
White is keen for the 29-year-old to face new lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in his eagerly-anticipated comeback fight.
However, he admits he can’t book the bout until McGregor learns his punishment for his actions in New York.
"Yeah that’s the fight to make,” the UFC chief said of a potential fight between McGregor and Nurmagomedov.
“But there’s no fight to make until we figure out what happens with Conor.”
Although White is keen to book Nurmagomedov vs McGregor, the latter isn't keen on the fight at this moment in time.
"We believe the fight to make is the Georges St-Pierre fight at 155 pounds,” Nurmagomedov’s coach Ali Abdelaziz told MMA Fighting.
“Khabib wants to fight for legacy and not for a soap opera drama show, and we think Conor doesn’t deserve this opportunity."
