THE UFC are currently trying to book a super-fight between Nate Diaz and Georges St-Pierre, the promotion's president Dana White has confirmed.

On Sunday night, MMA journalist Mike Russell reported that the promotion were looking at the possibility of having the pair face one another at UFC 227, which takes place in Los Angeles on August 4.
The news of the targeted bout stunned the mixed martial arts world, with many questioning the UFC’s match-making policy.
White was asked about the potential match-up during the latest episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast and revealed that St-Pierre vs Diaz is indeed in the works.
“It is true and they would fight at 155-pounds,” White said regarding St-Pierre vs Diaz.
White then went on to reveal the promotion are trying to book a light-heavyweight fight between Alexander Gustafsson and former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.
“There are rumours, what did I see,” the UFC chief added.
“That we were doing Gustafsson and Rockhold, that is true, but that’s not for the interim title, that’s false.

“It might be LA, I’m targeting LA.”
The UFC may face some difficulty to book St-Pierre vs Diaz as the former well and truly poured cold water on a potential fight with the Ultimate Fighter season five winner earlier this year.
“The fight with Nate Diaz doesn’t really interest me, because I beat Nick Diaz,” St-Pierre said during an appearance on The MMA Hour.

“And logically, it’s not a risk worth taking for me, because if I beat Nate Diaz, it’s like normal for me. You know what I mean?
“It’s like, people expect me to win. But if I lose, I lose a big part of my legacy, I lose my name. I think it’s not worth it for me. Logically, it’s not worth it.”
Diaz, 19-11, hasn’t set foot inside the Octagon since his UFC 202 bout with Conor McGregor, which he lost via majority decision.
UFC 227, the seventh pay-per-view card of the year, takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on August 4.
The card will be headlined by a men's bantamweight title fight between champion TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.
