FLOYD MAYWEATHER is already training ahead of a potential MMA fight with Conor McGregor.
Floyd Mayweather beat Conor McGregor in a boxing match last year
Mayweather and McGregor fought in a historic boxing match in August last year with Mayweather stopping UFC star McGregor.
Talk swiftly turned to that of a rematch – but in the Octagon where it would favour Conor McGregor.
And despite being 41, Mayweather is already focusing on getting his body ready for a potential UFC bout.
“I started training already. Not the physical part but I’m running and going through the motions,” Mayweather told Fight Hype.
Will Floyd Mayweather follow Conor McGregor and switch sports?
“I’ve thought about fighting in MMA. Right now it’s 50/50 but I’ve already started training and hopefully be fighting within a year.
“I really don’t know yet if I’m going to fight. Everything takes time.
“Before I get in the Octagon though I’ve got to be well rounded. I’ll be working with the wrestling guys and I’m going to be working with guys in the Jiu Jitsu world.
“Fighting is nothing new for me. Fighting barefoot is new but fighting is nothing new.”
Steve Bunce says McGregor gave Mayweather a boxing lesson
Mayweather has a perfect record when it comes to boxing, winning every one of his 50 professional bouts.
He was the world champion across five weight divisions, beating the likes of Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao.
McGregor has been world champion at two weights in UFC, winning the featherweight and lightweight championship.
He hasn’t fought a UFC clash though since November 2016 where he stopped Eddie Alvarez in the second round.
