The youngest Diaz brother hasn't set foot inside the Octagon since suffering a majority decision loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 202, a defeat he vehemently contested.
Diaz was offered the opportunity to fight for the interim lightweight title last year but declined to do so as he felt like he was being pressured into doing McGregor's dirty work.
A staggering 18 months have passed since Diaz's fiercely-contested rematch with McGregor, and he's shown little sign of returning to MMA's premier promotion.
Diaz has allegedly turned down multiple fight offers since that night at the T-Mobile Arena, leading many to believe he has his sights set on a trilogy fight with McGregor.
UFC president Dana White has been a key figure in the promotion's attempts to lure Diaz back to the cage and has admitted even he doesn't know if the Stockton native is holding out for a rubber match with 'The Notorious'.
“I don’t know,” White told TMZ. “I don’t even know what fight he wants.
"Obviously, I think if Conor was available he’d take that fight for sure. It’s a big money fight.”

At this moment in time, the TUF alumni has his sights set on a fight with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
"I'm getting to the point where I'm sick of not fighting. I'm not getting any younger," Diaz told ESPN.
"I put that tweet out saying I wanted to fight in May or June, but I didn't say who because I was weighing my options. And now, Woodley is my best option.
"I see him on TMZ every week, talking about me. I'm like, 'What the f---? If that's what you want to do.'
"It's not really my weight class, but I'm with it. I think it's my title we're fighting for. If he's the one calling me out, whose title are we fighting for? Who's the real champion here?"
McGregor vs Diaz 3 is a fight many MMA fans are desperate to see
At this moment in time, Diaz isn't thinking about having a trilogy fight with his bitter rival.
"He's just living his life right now and he's got a magnifying glass on him, whatever he's doing," Diaz told ESPN's Brett Okamoto. "I don't give a f**k what he does.
"I'm sure he's up and down. 'Do I want to be in these lights? Why am I not in these lights?
"'I need to get in the lights. I need to get out of the lights.' It's a crazy roller coaster."
Dana White doesn't know if Nick Diaz will ever fight again
At this moment in time, White believes there's more chance of McGregor rematching Floyd Mayweather than having a third encounter with Diaz.
“I don’t know,” he told TMZ when asked which fight is more likely to happen.
“As of right now, I’d say Conor-Floyd.”
