CONOR MCGREGOR has officially announced his returned to mixed martial arts training.
Conor McGregor, UFC lightweight champion
The UFC’s lightweight champion hasn’t set foot inside the Octagon since claiming the 155lbs title in the main event of UFC 205, the promotion's first card in New York City
Fourteen months have passed since that historic night at Madison Square Garden, and ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t shown any sign of returning to the UFC.
However, judging from his recent Instagram post, he will soon be back in the cage.
Earlier this evening, McGregor posted a picture of himself posing by the lockers at Straight Blast Gym Ireland to his official Instagram page.
The accompanying caption, which delighted his legion of fans, also included a dig at his most recent opponent, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
It read: “Back at the gym floyds (sic) a rat.”

Back at the gym floyds (sic) a rat
McGregor’s dig at Mayweather Jr was a direct response to the boxer’s recent Instagram posts, in which he belittled ‘The Notorious’ with pictures of him being punched during their boxing match.
The Irishman’s scores of followers will be delighted to see Emerald Isle's first UFC belt holder back in full MMA training.
At this moment in time, McGregor’s next fight looks like being a lightweight title unification fight with interim 155lbs champion Tony Ferguson.

Conor McGregor hasn't fought in MMA since defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205
"Nobody has talked about (Nate) Diaz," UFC president Dana White said during the UFC 216 post-fight press conference. "Diaz has never been talked about. That's internet bulls**t.
"Tony is the interim champion, Conor is the champion, it's the fight that makes sense.
"It's the fight that has to happen. It doesn't make sense, it's the fight that has to happen."
Conor McGregor doesn't want to fight until August at the earliest, according to Dana White
The UFC brass are hopeful of having McGregor make his long-awaited return to the Octagon in March.
However, the 29-year-old seemingly has other plans.
“I don’t think Conor wants to fight until August,” White told Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole earlier this month.
“If he waits until August or September, that’s around two years since the belt has been defended and that can’t happen.”
