Francis Ngannou celebrates his KO win over Alistair Overeem
The Cameroonian-born Frenchman earned himself a crack at the heavyweight strap in the co-main event of UFC 218, which took place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
‘The Predator’ became the No.1 contender for the heavyweight crown by registering a huge first-round KO victory over Alistair Overeem, the biggest of his young mixed martial arts career.
Somewhat surprisingly, Overeem came out with a big overhand left, which Ngannou narrowly avoided.
The Dutchman then tied up Ngannou in the clinch but was separated from him due to inactivity.
A wild exchanged ensued, which Ngannou won in emphatic fashion.
The 31-year-old separated Overeem from consciousness with a spine-chilling left hook, which stunned the fans in attendance at the Little Ceasars Arena.
