GSP suffering with colitis, Dana White says he'll be out for a 'minute'
GEORGES ST-PIERRE won’t be defending his middleweight title anytime soon.
Georges St-Pierre looks on before his UFC 217 bout with Michael Bisping
St-Pierre reached the summit of the 185lbs division last month in the main event of UFC 217, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Canadian, who was fighting for the first time in nearly four years, claimed his fourth UFC title with a third-round submission victory over Britain’s Michael Bisping.
Immediately after the contest, UFC president Dana White claimed St-Pierre’s second outing in his second stint in the UFC would see him defend the 185lbs title against interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.
The proposed bout is currently up in the air as St-Pierre has not yet committed his future to the division, much to the frustration of many.
The UFC brass were hopeful of having St-Pierre vs Whittaker headline UFC 221, which takes place in Whittaker’s home country of Australia on February 11.

He'll be out for a minute
However, illness to St-Pierre may have well and truly laid waste to those plans.
“They (St-Pierre's team) called me yesterday and I think it’s out that he has colitis,” White told MMAjunkie. “So he’s out for a minute.”

Symptoms of colitis consist of stomach cramps, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and blood in the stool.
St-Pierre's failure to commit himself to the middleweight division has led many to believe he will vacate the title and drop back down to the welterweight division.

Should he do that, he will greatly annoy White, who was wary of giving the 36-year-old a shot at the middleweight title in the first place.
When asked how he'd react if St-Pierre told him he wanted to return to the welterweight division, he said: "I'm going to be super p****d and I don't know where we go from there.
