Aljamain Sterling retains UFC bantamweight title after TJ Dillashaw dislocates shoulder
TJ Dillashaw looked to have dislocated his shoulder early in the fight and continued into the second round before the champion was able to seal the win
TJ Dillashaw dislocated his shoulder early in his title shot against Aljamain Sterling and was somehow able to continue to fight into the second round before the bantamweight champion got the job done with a TKO stoppage. Dillashaw's coach looked to have popped his shoulder back in place, or at least make it more comfortable, but he was visbily in pain throughout the fight.
Dillashaw begun the second round seemingly in less pain after his coaches had done whatever they needed to do with his shoulder, but Sterling was able get the takedown.
Dillashaw escaped but still looked to be in pain before Sterling then successfully took him down again, with a ground and pound attack ending the fight.
In an interview after the loss, Dillashaw revealed he has dislocated his shoulder as many as 20 times since April!
It was a disappointing end to a disappointing night for Dillashaw, who never really had a chance to prove himself in the fight.
Sterling will now likely defend his belt against Sean O'Malley, who defeated Petr Yan earlier during the night.
