Roger Federer: Novak Djokovic Wimbledon threat explained by BBC pundit
NOVAK DJOKOVIC has been tipped to challenge Roger Federer for the Wimbledon title next month by BBC pundit John Lloyd.
Djokovic ruled himself out of the running after beating Grigor Dimitrov at Queen’s yesterday.
But the Serbian has been in incredible form this week winning both of his opening games in west London in straight sets.
Djokovic takes on Adrian Mannarino this afternoon hoping to book his place in the semi-finals and take a giant step towards his first ATP title since returning from injury.
But Lloyd thinks the former world No 1 can go one better than winning Queen’s and actually challenge Federer to the next Grand Slam title.
I think he is a big threat to win this and win Wimbledon
“He was absolutely brilliant yesterday and so at ease,” Llloyd told the BBC.
“He just absolutely demolished Grigor Dimitrov, who is a fabulous grass-court player.
“He made him look second rank really.
“The question is can he keep this up? Can he win here and win this tournament and then go five sets?
“It’s all in his head because the game is there. I don’t think he has to work on anything other than his mind.
“I thought his movement was spectacular.
“He loves the grass and he loves Queen’s.
“I think he is a big threat to win this and win Wimbledon.”
