Rafael Nadal ‘superhuman’ record will never be broken - Greg Rusedski
RAFAEL NADAL’s record off 11 Grand Slam titles at a single tournament will never be beaten.
That is the verdict of former British No 1 and Eurosport tennis pundit Greg Rusedski.
Nadal landed his 11th French Open title on Sunday, beating Dominic Thiem in straight sets.
The only other player to have that many wins at a single Slam is Margaret Court, who recorded 11 at the Australian Open between 1960 and 1973.
Roger Federer and Serena Williams have won eight Wimbledon titles each but, at the ages of 37 and 36 respectively, are unlikely to win another three.
That is 11 titles, something you will never, ever see in your lifetime again
And Rusedski cannot see anyone in the future matching or beating Nadal’s record.
“That is 11 titles, something you will never, ever see in your lifetime again,” Rusedski said.
“Eleven Slams, it’s superhuman, it’s Rafael Nadal.
“Well done to Rafa, I can see it going 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
Nadal admits he had 'tough moment' during French Open final
"Nobody is stopping this man and he’s still so hungry. So, well done Rafa.”
Another former British No 1 Annabel Croft agreed with Rusedski.
Croft said: “It was an amazing performance from Nadal and I agree with you, we’re never going to see someone win 11 French Opens again, I will be astounded if that’s the case.”
