Federer produced a scintilating display to earn a fourth straight win over Nadal.
And it also means he has now won three titles this year alone at the ripe old age of 35.
The two titans of the game were level at 3-3 in the first set before Federer stepped up a gear.
The Swiss maestro held serve then broke Nadal - before serving out the set in style.
Nadal's successes over the years have been down to a never-say-die attitude.
But the Spaniard was powerless to prevent himself sliding to defeat.
Federer went 5-4 up in the second set courtesy of a pinpoint lob.
And the 35-year-old then served out the final game to win the match and the competition.

"It has been a good start to the season for me even if I have now lost to Roger three times!
"I am going to keep trying hard and many thanks to the crowd, it has been a huge privilege to play in front of you."
