Taylor Fritz's girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, has released a statement after deleting her social media posts at Wimbledon following her partner's victory over Alexander Zverev.

American star Fritz came from two sets down to reach the quarter-finals at SW19 for the second time in his career, before Zverev held his conqueror close to the net and later hit out at members of Fritz's box on Centre Court.

He accused those close to Fritz, though not his coaching staff, of being "over the top" in the fifth set while knowing that Zverev had been carrying an injury and was wearing heavy strapping on his knee.

Social media influencer Riddle, who has 17.2million likes on TikTok and over 500,000 followers, posted a video to her Instagram story after the match with a drink in her hands, captioned: "When your man wins 4 the girls."

In the early moments of the match, she also posted a story of the court, captioned: "Cheer loud ladies." Both posts appear to have been deleted.

Riddle has since released a statement on Instagram which read: "Regarding my stories yesterday... I took them down as soon as I realised the misunderstanding and how blown out of proportion they had become by the media.

"They were not about anything that's happened off the tennis court & there's no bad blood between anyone. Super proud of t for the match yesterday, thank you to the crowd for the support & looking forward to tomorrow."

In his post-match press conference, Zverev played down any tension between himself and Fritz, but aimed a thinly-veiled dig at those close to the American.

"His team is extremely respectful," the world No.4 explained. "I think his coach, his physio, also his second coach, they're extremely respectful. I think there's some other people that maybe are in the box that are not maybe from the tennis world, that are not maybe from particularly watching every single match. They were a bit over the top.

"That's okay. No issues. No drama. He fought back from two sets to love, so they're obviously all excited, very pumped up, yeah. But no issues with Taylor. I think Taylor is a great guy. I have absolutely no issues with him."

Fritz similarly confessed that their lengthy conversation at the net was regarding certain members of his player's box. "I mean, at the net, like, it's no big deal," he added.

"I think he felt that he was for parts, I guess towards the end of the fifth at least, kind of limping around a bit. I think he was annoyed at some people in my box just being loud, cheering for me. Honestly, I can't hear. I don't know. Like, no big deal. He said it's nothing towards me or anything like that."
