Dusan Lajovic injury: Monte Carlo star willing to cut off TOE ahead of Nadal or Fognini
DUSAN LAJOVIC says he is willing to cut off his toe to beat Rafael Nadal or Fabio Fognini in the Monte Carlo Masters final.
Monte-Carlo Masters: Lajovic defeats Medvedev to reach final
Lajovic reached a maiden Masters 1000 final by coming from 5-1 down to beat Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 6-1 earlier today.
The Serbian will face the winner of Nadal vs Fognini in the biggest match of his career tomorrow.
However, Lajovic has been suffering with bad blisters on his toe and is willing to cut the digit off in a race to be fit.
“There is pain every day,” Lajovic admitted.
“It takes a while to get ready to go on the court.
“I am just going to cut that toe off if that’s what it needs for me to play tomorrow.
“I am looking forward to playing the finals tomorrow.”
However, tennis expert Caroline Whittaker was not keen on the drastic action.
“Please don’t cut off your toe Dusan,” Whittaker told Amazon Prime.
“I feel like that would be a step too far.
“Although that would definitely show commitment.”
Lajovic has not dropped a set all week and is full of confidence heading into the final.
“What’s the point of losing sets right?” he added.
“Jokes aside, it was incredible match today. From playing completely out of my my rhythm, my worse nightmare losing 5-1.
“I tuned things around and won 10 games in a row.
“I found my rhythm and my game.”
