Rafael Nadal vs Alex De Minaur: Tomas Berdych does not care about Australian Open tie
TOMAS BERDYCH does not care if he faces Rafael Nadal or Alex De Minaur in the Australian Open fourth round.
Australian Open: I'm here to play Nadal says Tomas Berdych
Berdych has rediscovered his form of old this week and put his recent injury woes behind him.
The Czech star cruised into the last 16 for the 11th time in his career with a four-set victory against Diego Schwartzman.
Berdych has not had an easy ride in Melbourne, having to face Kyle Edmund and Robin Haase in the early rounds.
And as world No 2 Nadal or Australian No 1 Minaur awaits in the next stage - Berdych does not fear either opponent.
“I will watch, but not the whole match,” Berdych said of Nadal vs De Minaur.
“I also want to have my time, not spending it just on tennis, that’s number one.
“Number two, I don’t really care [who I play].
“Let them play, let them enjoy. Both are great players, one making history playing for so long winning so many slams and the upcoming star from Australia.
“I’m gonna be ready for either of them.”
Berdych came from a set down to knock No 18 seed Schwartzman out of the tournament this morning.
And he was delighted to have the crowd behind him on Melbourne Arena.
“It is always great to be here and to have a great support like this,” he added.
“It is amazing and for me it was another good day at the office.
“I really enjoyed it and played a good match.
“It was a good challenge and I was strong and ready today.”
