NOVAK DJOKOVIC has joked he will be open to advice on beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga after setting up a repeat of the 2008 Australian Open final.
Australia Open: Djokovic jokes he needs advice to beat Tsonga
Novak Djokovic battled his way into the next round of the Australian Open on Tuesday with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Mitchell Krueger.
The 31-year-old will now go up against Tsonga, who he has beaten regularly throughout his career.
Djokovic first beat Tsonga way back in 2008 at the Australian Open, in a victory that has paved the way for 14 more Grand Slam successes.
And the Serb has now joked he is open to advice on beating the Frenchman 11 years on.
“I think the reaction of the crowd says it all,” he said when asked about the showdown.
“If anyone has some smart advice to give me, I'll be in the locker room. Come and talk to my coach.
“I have tremendous respect for Jo.”
Djokovic’s win over Krueger today was the first time the two men have gone to war.
And the Serb has admitted he did not know what to expect prior to the showdown.

“Playing Krueger for the first time, I didn't know what to expect,” he said.
“I tried to do my homework but it's very different playing him.
“We were both pumped, there were lots of emotions on the court.
“I enjoyed the match.”
