Novak Djokovic slammed by commentator after SHOUTING at Australian Open opponent
NOVAK DJOKOVIC has been slammed by Eurosport commentator Simon Reed for his conduct in the Australian Open first round.
Australia Open: Djokovic jokes he needs advice to beat Tsonga
Djokovic beat Mitchell Krueger 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Australian Open for the 13th consecutive season.
In doing so he ensured he has won the last 19 sets in Grand Slams.
But it was a frosty meeting between the pair and Reed was left unimpressed by Djokovic’s reaction when he went 5-2 up in the third set.
Djokovic let out a huge roar towards his opponent despite the match, in truth, being done and dusted far earlier.
“Making noises like that if you are in the fifth set against Rafael Nadal is understandable,” Reed said.
“But making those noises when you’re playing a qualifier is not.
“It was a good clean contest apart from Djokovic’s attitude at times.”
As footage of the shouting was shown, Reed said: “Look at that, a man who’s disturbed, certainly disturbed by Mitchell Krueger."
Co-commentator Frew McMillan said “I must say it’s uncalled for” to which Reed agreed.
"Yes, me too," Reed added. "It’s not winning him any friends."
Krueger broke the Djokovic serve to lead 2-1 in the opening set but from there battled manfully to keep things competitive, eventually falling to defeat in two hours and three minutes.
Djokovic will next face France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in a rematch of the 2008 final.
