Australian Open: Novak Djokovic joins Roger Federer in history books after Krueger win
AUSTRALIAN OPEN - Novak Djokovic has joined Roger Federer in the history books following his win over Mitchell Krueger today.
The Australian Open has kicked off with Novak Djokovic joining Roger Federer in the round of 64 after a comfortable victory over Krueger at the Rod Laver Arena this morning.
The Serbian is aiming to triumph Down Under for a seventh time in his career after previous wins in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Djokovic was at his blockbuster best against Krueger and eased to a 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory.
He will now go up against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the man he beat to win the Australian Open 11 years ago for the firs time, in the next round.
And Djokovic’s win over Krueger has seen him join Federer in the history books.
The 31-year-old has become just the second player in the history of the ATP Tour to play 300 Grand Slam matches.
Federer leads the way with a huge 394 - having triumphed at Slams 20 times throughout his career.
And Djokovic is now bang on 300.
