Novak Djokovic: Sky Sports pundit makes ‘really scary’ prediction for Roger Federer
NOVAK DJOKOVIC was not at his best against Alexander Zverev today - and that is not good news for the likes of Roger Federer.
Novak Djokovic trains ahead of ATP Finals
That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and former British No 1 Greg Rusedski.
Djokovic beat Zverev in straight sets in his second round robin match of the ATP Finals at London’s O2 Arena.
The World No 1 came through a tough first set 6-4 before easing through the second 6-1.
And after the match, Rusedski claimed Djokovic can still improve going forward in the competition this week.
I think he can still play better than he did today and that is really scary for everybody else who is involved in this event
Djokovic could end up facing Roger Federer in the knockout stages, with the Swiss legend in the other group.
“This man in our picture looks unstoppable,” Rusedski said of Novak Djokovic.
“I would say about nine, nine-and-a-half (out of 10).
"I think he can still play better than he did today and that is really scary for everybody else who is involved in this event.”
Zverev faded away considerably in the second set against Djokovic.
And Rusedski says the German has lots to work on in the close season.
“He’s just not used to playing at that level consistently with the way you have to play,” he said.
“Aggressive, taking the ball early, making sure he takes it to Novak. To do that point in, point out it’s very difficult to do against the best.
“That’s where his work in the off-season will come in when he goes with (coach) Ivan Lendl.
“The very best can play that sort of style for four hours.
“But there’s a lot of positives to take away from how he played that first set against Novak.
“The forehand looked better and so did the serve.”
Djokovic plays his final group game of the competition on Friday against Marin Cilic.
Zverev faces John Isner, who Djokovic beat in straight sets on Monday, on the same day.
