Novak Djokovic helps out but tennis crowd BOO fan who faints at Paris Masters
A TENNIS fan who appeared to faint at the Paris Masters was BOOED by the crowd during Novak Djokovic’s clash with Joao Sousa.
Djokovic was well on course to win in two sets in the Paris Masters second-round match when play was stopped.
The Serb was 5-1 up in the second set when the chair umpire jumped off his seat to check something in the crowd.
He was heard saying: "We cannot carry on playing."
It appeared as though a fan directly behind the service line had fainted.
The fan was spotted moving gingerly on his seat and taking a gulp of water.
But the Parisian crowd appeared to not know what had happened at first and started booing before delivering a slow-hand clap.
They then applauded as the chair umpire returned to his seat.
The man was eventually walked away from his seat by medical staff.
Djokovic ran out a 7-5 6-1 winner over Sousa to progress to the third round in the French capital.
He will play world No 52 Damir Dzumhur, with potential quarter-finals clash with Marin Cilic on the horizon.
Novak Djokovic is hoping to win the Paris Masters for the fifth time in his career.
He last won the title in 2015 when beating Andy Murray in the final 6-2 6-4.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal get their campaigns underway tomorrow.
