Ireland's Jonathan Sexton is ready for Australia clash, says Joe Schmidt
IRELAND coach Joe Schmidt says Jonathan Sexton will be hard to ignore for Saturday’s Australia clash despite missing the 40-9 Samoa win.
The Lions fly-half sat out the victory with a hip problem but is expected to be fit for the Wallabies.
Schmidt was boosted by Ulster outside-half Paddy Jackson’s confident turn at the helm as Ireland racked up five tries at the Aviva Stadium.
But the coach said: “We would have to strongly consider Jonny coming back in. He does bring that experience and that quality that we know he has.”
Scotland winger Tommy Seymour savoured the “perfect” feeling of scoring two tries on his home debut in a 42-17 victory over Japan at Murrayfield.
The Nashville-born player said: “I was just delighted to cross over and my parents, brother and girlfriend were in the crowd so it was perfect. My parents hadn’t seen me play for a while so it was a special moment that they were there to witness that.”
