Wales hooker Sam Parry has abruptly left the squad amid rumours of feeling "disrespected" by coach Warren Gatland. Despite being included in the initial squad earlier this month, Parry was not selected for the upcoming match against South Africa on Saturday.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the 32-year-old believed he was a full member of Gatland's team and was in contention for the summer tour to Australia. However, he was reportedly taken aback when he discovered he was only included to assist the team in preparing for the tour.

The same report suggests that Parry, who has earned seven caps for Wales, received less kit than his teammates during their first summer meet-up. It also alleges that other hooker options were discussed at a team meeting, with Parry being mentioned as an afterthought.

It is understood that Parry left the squad earlier this week. The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has been approached for a comment.

With Elliot Dee injured, Wales are expected to be without a key hooker for the tour. Dewi Lake and Evan Lloyd will be joined by newcomer Efan Daniel in the squad.

Parry's departure is one of several changes this week, with Keelan Giles and Jac Morgan also exiting. Henry Thomas is ruled out for at least the South Africa game due to injury, while Cory Hill and Dillon Lewis are also facing fitness issues.

Wales are scheduled to play South Africa at Twickenham at 2pm on Saturday.
