LeBron James: Stephen A. Smith claims the Wizards should want Kevin Durant over the King
LEBRON JAMES’ free agency has not yet officially begun – but rumours flying around the league have placed the four-time MVP at most of the 30 NBA franchises already.
This week, NBA writer Michael Wilbon caused a stir by claiming the 33-year-old should head to the Washington Wizards in order to boost his profile and political clout even further.
But Wilbon was swiftly shot down by eight-time All-Star Dwight Howard, who questioned how the move would benefit either party during an appearance on The Jump last night.
Discussing the sensational signing further, ESPN host Stephen A. Smith claimed if the Wizards were in the market for another superstar, they should pursue Kevin Durant over James.
“If I had a choice to make between the two… here’s the deal. I’m not rolling with LeBron James for this one,” Smith said.
“I’m rolling with KD. It’s not just because he’s the local product, I like the thought of KD with Bradley Beal better than I like LeBron with John Wall.
“I’m talking about shot-makers. I’m talking about long-range snipers. I’m thinking about Beal getting more open shots because Kevin Durant is on the floor with him.
“I’m thinking about Kevin Durant having open shots because damn, he’s Kevin Durant and he can make shots from anywhere.
“I understand LeBron has improved, I understand LeBron is phenomenal, I understand the thought of LeBron James with John Wall pushing the ball up the floor would be something special.
“But we both know how they both like to be ball-dominant. I think it would be too big of an adjustment.”
