NBA All-Star 2018: Watch top 10 dunks of all-time from dunk contest - VIDEO
THE NBA All-Star weekend is only a few days away with anticipation building about the dunk contest and here is an opportunity to see the top 10 dunks of all time from the competition.
Who comes out on top in our list of top 10 dunks from the dunk contest?
Victor Oladipo, Larry Nance Jr, Dennis Smith Jr and Donovan Mitchell will compete in the 2018 dunk contest this weekend in the hope of writing their name into history.
As proven in the past, a strong performance in the dunk contest can often elevate your career to new heights and instantly become a household name.
Highly regarded as the highlight of the entire weekend, the dunk contest has drawn criticism in recent years.
Last year was largely disappointing, partly due to Zach LaVine declining to defend his title.
Aaron Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, Derrick Jones Jr and Glenn Robinson III - the eventual champion - failed to excite the crowd in New Orleans.
But there have been plenty of contests in the past which have left the crowd and their fellow players in complete awe.
Compiling a list of the top dunks of all time is often a hot topic of debate, but here is a line-up of what we feel are the best 10 dunks in the history of the competition due to difficult, execution and impact.
DeMar DeRozen's "showstopper" certainly lives up to its name
10. DeMar DeRozan “showstopper”
Ok his first dunk took about 10 attempts but he made up for that with this filthy move. Watch this in slow-motion and you truly see it in all its glory.
9. Andre Igoudala behind-the-basket reverse
The fact this is No 9 tells you all you need to know about this list. Allen Iverson throwing up the lob off the backboard and Iguodale jumped so high he had to duck before slamming it home with two hands
8. Jason Richardson off the backboard through the legs
J-Rich pulled off some incredible dunks throughout his reign as the slam dunk king but this tops the lot. The intricacies needed to pull this off was unbelievable.

Who can forget Allen Iverson's pass off the backboard to Andre Iguodala?
7. Michael Jordan from the free-throw line 1987
The dunk that became the symbolic for Air Jordan. While the dunk wasn’t groundbreaking or new, it proved iconic for so many reasons.
6. Spud Webb off the bounce
This man is 5’7”. He was up against the heavily favoured Dominique Wilkins. This shouldn’t be possible. But it gets more impressive each time you watch it.
5. Zach LaVine between the legs
Watch this in real-time and it may not be as impressive as LaVine’s other dunks from his two contests. But watch it in slow-motion and just delight in his brilliance.
Which Zach LaVine dunk is your favourite?

4. Vince Carter “honey dip”
Vince Carter reigned supreme in the 2000 dunk contest a year after the labor-shortened 1999 season and completely revamped the competition. This dunk left everybody watching stunned in silence at what they had just seen.
3. Zach LaVine ‘Jordan’ jersey
This list could be compiled by more than just two from LaVine but this was the dunk that made him become a household name. Donning a Tune Squad jersey with Jordan’s name on the back added more pressure but he duly delivered.
He may never win one now, but as far as I'm concerned, Aaron Gordon has the best dunk in the history of the Slam Dunk Contest. pic.twitter.com/5Uv5vIaTcL

Aaron Gordon didn't even win the dunk contest this year!
2. Vince Carter reverse 360 windmill
Who can forget Shaquille O’Neal’s reaction to this? Even more hilarious now in the age of smartphones but the big man stood up with his mouth and eyes wide open while holding a huge video recorder.
1. Aaron Gordon under both legs
Creativity. Check. Invention. Check. Execution. Unbelievable! Did this actually happen?
