Barcelona World Race: Alex Thomson flies home
ALEX THOMSON hopes to fly home today and be at the birth of his first child as he recovers from the appendicitis which wrecked the start of his Barcelona World Race.
The Hugo Boss skipper had surgery 48 hours before Friday’s start and substitute Wouter Verbraak took the helm. Thomson can take over if he is given a medical all-clear within 10 days.
Dee Caffari, the other British skipper, was ninth as the fleet headed towards Gibraltar.
