Within the blink of an eye, the Paris Olympic Games is on its final day. It feels like only yesterday when spectators, athletes and world leaders huddled beneath raincoats during a soaking wet opening ceremony on the River Seine.

Over the past two weeks, spectators have been treated to controversy, tears, disappointments, chaos and numerous shattered world records. Many have been inspired to either take up a new sport or attend the next edition in 2028.

As sports enthusiasts brace themselves for the end of the Games, Express Sport guide you through what you need to know about the next Olympics in four years.

Where will the next Olympics be held?

Los Angeles will host the Games for the third time in its history. The Californian city, famous for being home to Hollywood's elite, won't be constructing any new permanent venues for the event, reports the Mirror. All Olympic events will be held across 80 existing venues, promising one of the most glamorous and glitzy editions of the Games in recent memory.

When are the dates?

Those planning to make the trip for the Games should mark their calendars now. The 2028 Games will kick off on July 14 and conclude on July 30.

The Paralympics will follow hot on the heels of the Olympics, kicking off on August 22 and wrapping up on September 3. With LA's warm climate and a plethora of glitzy activities, fans can look forward to a sporting extravaganza with a dash of Hollywood glamour.

How to get your hands on tickets?

Currently, information about ticket availability and purchase methods is sparse. If LA follows Paris's ticketing strategy, fans may need to wait until approximately 18 months before the Games commence.

For the Paris Games, a ticket lottery was launched 18 months prior to the event, with additional ticket releases closer to the time. For context, Milano Cortina, the host of the 2026 Winter Olympics, has recently started selling tickets.

Fans can likely anticipate the opportunity to register for the ticket ballot in early 2027. As for pricing, that remains uncertain. Typically, qualifiers and lesser-known sports offer the most affordable tickets, while finals and high-profile events tend to be pricier.
