Olympic star’s wardrobe malfunction with wife upset over husband’s bulge going viral

Two-time Olympian Henrik Rummel had quite the embarrassing moment when posing with his bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012.

Henrik Rummel's noticeable bulge during his Olympic bronze medal acceptance caused quite a stir. However, his wife, Abra Amwake, didn't seem particularly unamused.

The Danish-born American athlete won the medal in the coxless four event at the London 2012 Olympics, alongside team-mates Scott Gault, Charles Cole, and Glenn Ochal. Rummel, then 24, stood with his colleagues during the medal ceremony.

While the team proudly held their bouquets and smiled broadly, it was Rummel's shorts that drew mass attention. His incredibly tight shorts seemed to highlight an apparent erection, sparking widespread speculation on social media - much to his wife's displeasure. In a conversation with Cosmopolitan, Rummel confessed that his wife didn't quite find the same humour in his public wardrobe mishap, reports the Mirror.

"I took it kind of tongue-in-cheek and I thought it was hilarious, but my wife didn't like it," he revealed. "She didn't like that everyone was talking about that and not about me winning a medal at the Olympics. And the same thing with my parents, they couldn't avoid it at the time, and it's not something that I am happy they had to go through."

Rummel was compelled to address a viral Reddit post that claimed: 'One US rower was particularly excited by his bronze medal', which sparked nearly 1,000 comments at the time. The Olympic rower himself jumped into the fray, adamantly refuting any insinuations about his physical state during the ceremony.

Under the handle Rummelator, he clarified on Reddit: "This is me and I swear it's not erect! I don't know why it ended up in that position but there you go". The athlete, who first made waves in the sporting world with a medal win in 2012, appeared at the Olympics again in 2016 in Brazil, although he and his team-mates could only finish seventh in the coxless four for the USA.

According to his LinkedIn, Rummel has since ended his sporting career and is currently the senior vice-president at Store Capital which according to the website is "one of the largest and fastest growing net lease REITs in the country".
