Anthony Davis to Boston Celtics claim made by Paul Pierce as Lakers table fresh offer
ANTHONY DAVIS’ decision not to consider a move to the Boston Celtics is mind-boggling, NBA icon Paul Pierce claims.
NBA: Boston should ‘intrigue’ Anthony Davis says Paul Pierce
New Orleans Pelicans star Davis has requested a trade, with the big man desperate to challenge for championships.
The 25-year-old reportedly has a list of four teams he would be willing to sign with long term, however, Boston hasn’t made the cut.
Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks are all possible destinations for Davis.
Davis’ dad has publicly discussed the idea of the big man heading to Boston, insisting he doesn’t want to see his son play for the Celtics after their treatment of Isaiah Thomas.
If you win in Boston, what does that do for you on and off the court?
“I would never want my son to play for Boston after what they done to Isaiah Thomas,” Davis Sr. said.
“No loyalty. Guy gives his heart and soul and they traded him.”
And Celtics legend Pierce has questioned Davis, claiming the fact he isn’t considering a move to Boston is mind-boggling.
“I really don’t get it because at the end of the day he says he wants to win,” Davis told ESPN’s The Jump.
“If you go to Boston, you’re going to win.
“I don’t understand why you’d put the Knicks on there or even the Clippers. They’re not as far ahead as Boston in terms of wanting to secure a legacy and win a championship.
“What is he really looking for in getting out of New Orleans? Is it about winning? Is it about your brand?
“If you win in Boston, what does that do for you on and off the court?
“It’s kind of mind-boggling to me that he wouldn’t be open to the Celtics when I see these other teams on the list.”
The Lakers have tabled numerous offers for Pelicans superstar Davis in recent days.
Their initial proposal included Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley and a first-round pick, however, their offer was quickly rejected.
The Lakers have now offered multiple young players and draft picks, as well as proposing salary cap relief in exchange for Davis.
