NBA news: Klay Thompson tells hilarious LeBron James story amid Lakers trade rumours
KLAY THOMPSON has revealed he almost injured himself dunking because he was under pressure from LeBron James, as rumours continue to link the guard to a move to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Golden State Warriors star has won three NBA titles, and is on course to add to that number this year.
He has been linked with a move away from the Warriors this summer, as his contract winds down in Golden State.
Thompson is an unrestricted free agent in the summer, and could make a move away from the Warriors in order to lead his own franchise.
One of the big rumours suggests that Thompson could be tempted to move across California to link up with James at the Los Angeles Lakers.
He has remained coy on his future so far, but has proclaimed his admiration for the megastar.
Thompson lined up against James for four years running in the NBA Finals, with the Warriors coming out on top in three of those.
But one memory that the ‘Splash Brother’ remembers is when he was being put under pressure by the star, and felt nerves for his own safety.
“I remember one time in the finals, I was chasing up the field and Andre Iguodala was behind me,” Thompson explained.
“LeBron was chasing me and [Iguodala was] saying ‘you’d better dunk it, you’d better dunk it’.
“I went up to flush it and almost killed myself.
“I was so nervous.
“[I thought] LeBron was just going to come by and (block).
“Andre was saying I’d better dunk it, because LeBron was coming full speed.
“The landing wasn’t pretty.
“I flushed that thing because I didn’t want to see the ball end up at half-court.”
